How many units / semaglutide

How Many Units Is 2 mg of Semaglutide?

On a U-100 syringe, units show liquid volume. Work out the amount by dividing the prescribed dose in mg by the vial strength in mg per mL, then multiplying by 100. At 1 mg/mL, 2 mg is 200 units. At 2.5 mg/mL, 2 mg is 80 units. At 5 mg/mL, 2 mg is 40 units. These are math examples, not a recommendation to take 2 mg. At 1 mg/mL, the amount is more than a 1 mL syringe holds. That is a sign to double-check the strength and the form, not a reason to split it into two draws. This page describes the Ozempic label. Your prescriber sets your dose.

A U-40 or other syringe would give a different draw for this 2 mg Semaglutide example.

This page answers the 2 mg Semaglutide example; use the strength printed on your label.

Where 2 mg fits on the label

The Ozempic injection label lists 2 mg as its highest dose, after at least 4 weeks at 1 mg if blood sugar needs more control. That is what the label says, not advice. Your prescriber sets your dose.

Brand-name products with this dose

Brand-name products that give 2 mg include:

  • Ozempic: 8 mg / 3 mL (multi-dose pen)

Questions about 2 mg

Is this page recommending 2 mg?

No. It only turns a prescribed 2 mg dose into units at a given strength. Your prescriber and the product label decide whether that amount is right for you.

Is semaglutide approved?

Yes. Semaglutide is sold as FDA-approved brand-name products. But this page doesn’t choose a product, dose or form for you.

What does 2 mg equal at the example strength?

At 2.5 mg/mL, 2 mg is 80 units on a U-100 insulin syringe. Whether that can be read exactly depends on the lines printed on the syringe.

Which syringe sizes fit 2 mg in this example?

In this example, the liquid for 2 mg fits in these syringes: 1.0 mL (100 units). This is not instructions for any product.
